Questions and Answers with JoAnn

The most important event in a democracy is the election of its leaders. As you decide who to support in this election, you have every right to ask, "Who can best lead? And who can best serve?" JoAnn wants to address your questions and concerns directly with you.

Thank you for asking the questions and attending our sessions in Lihu'e, Kekaha, Po'ipu, Princeville, and Wailua-Kapa'a.

All mayoral and a majority of council candidates participated in a forum responding to questions on the economy, land use, development, energy, transportation, waste, affordable housing, Super Ferry, and the environment.  The public was able to meet and greet the candidates from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.   The facilitated question-answer forum began promptly at 6 p.m.   The event was hosted by the Eco-Roundtable, a network of over 50 sustainability-oriented organizations, as well as representatives from the agricultural, business, and Native Hawaiian communities.

An Evening With JoAnn
August 3, 2008

The sound of the conch shell started the evening with Leilani Rivera Bond singing a memorable rendition of "Beautiful Kaua'i."   The smooth rhythms of David Yukimura's Jazz Band provided entertainment.   And the food...ono!   Keeping Kaua'i, Kaua'i for this generation and future generations was the focused of JoAnn's speech.   (Full text of speech)
